How to get a direct yes or no on client proposals without being annoying

You sent the proposal. Now, the mental loop begins.

Every time you open your inbox, you check if they replied. You draft a "Just bubbling this up!" email, delete it, and worry about looking desperate. Meanwhile, the prospect isn't ignoring you out of malice; your email is just sitting in their inbox behind a server outage and a payroll issue.

Leaving a proposal in limbo destroys your mental bandwidth. You need to close the loop, and you need to do it without sounding like a debt collector.

The professional close-out

Most follow-up sequences are designed to guilt the prospect into replying. A frictionless sequence is designed to give them an easy out, which paradoxically increases your response rate.

Here is the exact cadence to use after sending a productized pitch or proposal.

Day 3: The context add

Do not ask for an update. Send something useful that requires zero action from them.

"Hi [Name], saw this article on [industry trend] and thought of our chat about your Q3 roadmap. No need to reply, just wanted to share."

Day 7: The timeline check

Acknowledge their busy schedule and put the ball in their court regarding timing.

"Hi [Name], I know things get buried. Are we still aiming to kick this off next month, or should I push this to Q4 on my capacity tracker?"

Day 14: The file closure

This is the most important email. You explicitly state that you are walking away. This removes all pressure and triggers loss aversion.

"Hi [Name], since I haven't heard back, I'll assume this isn't a priority right now. I'm going to close your file on my end so I don't keep cluttering your inbox. If you want to pick this up later, just let me know. Best of luck with the Q3 launch."

Why the closure works

When you send the Day 14 email, one of two things happens.
Either they reply immediately with, "So sorry, we got slammed, yes we still want to do this!" Or, they stay silent, and you successfully reclaim the mental energy you were wasting on a dead lead.

Both outcomes are wins. The loop is closed.
